TC is a Great Place to Start 2018
Spring classes begin next week at Texarkana College, and you can start your journey toward a new career by enrolling in a program that prepares you for your next step. Whether you are looking for a new job, or just starting out to discover your talents and skills, TC will help you find the right pathway for success.
There are so many options available to fit your lifestyle and schedule that you will easily find a field of study to meet your needs.
Earn an associate degree that launches you into the job market in just two short years with specialized skills to become a nurse, mechanic, child care professional, computer technician, hair stylist, chef, drug and alcohol counselor, welder, or office professional. TC also has one-year or less certificates that get you to work even faster in jobs that are in high demand by local employers including heating and air conditioning, construction, Certified Nurse Aid and Vocational Nursing, pharmacy technician, truck driving, EMT/First Responder, fire fighting, and more!
Did you know that TC helps more students earn their bachelor’s degree than any other institution in the area? At a fraction of the cost of universities, you can take up to 60 semester hours of core courses that transfer to your choice of university to apply toward your bachelor’s degree in a specialized field. Take courses such as English, math, art, music, drama, speech, chemistry, biology, and social science—chances are, we have the course you need.
While at TC, you will meet incredible people, have a network of support and tutors available to you, learn from experienced instructors who care for their students, and have access to unlimited use of the gym, Olympic-sized heated pool, student center, library, and so many other awesome campus resources. If you want to be a member of clubs and organizations, TC has that, too! Be a member of student government, honors societies, cultural clubs, and other clubs related to your major.
And did you know that TC offers online courses and three locations where you can take classes? There’s a learning site in downtown Atlanta, a site in New Boston at the TexAmericas Center, and then the main campus in Texarkana, TX. You can even earn a full general studies associate degree completely online through TC!
For high school students, get ahead by signing up for dual credit courses next fall through your high school counselor. The courses fully transfer to Texas public universities, and most often to out of state colleges, too. They are a fraction of the cost of regular college-level courses and can be taken right on the high school campus. You will save thousands of dollars of tuition and will cut down on the time you spend in college overall. You can shave off up to two years of time at a university by taking classes at TC while still in high school- even earn you Associate Degree before you graduate from high school!
And if you are in the top percentage of your graduating high school class, you can go to TC for free with the Presidential Scholarship. It pays for up to 60 hours of tuition, fees, and books for top graduating seniors from area high schools. TC’s Presidential Scholars are automatically admitted into the Honor’s College and will have opportunities to grow as a leader and network with other students from around the area. Find out more about the Presidential Scholarship and apply later this spring for Fall 2018.
TC has been named as the top college in Texas for the number of students who complete their degree. You can be one of TC’s graduates, too! It just takes two years or less to earn your degree at TC.
Classes start up next week, but you can still get enrolled. If you take a little time at home before coming up to the TC campus, there’s a pretty good chance you can be admitted on the spot. Here’s four steps to get you started:
- At least 24 hours ahead of coming in, go online and apply to College at www.ApplyTexas.org. This is your first step and it can be done at home.
- Apply for Financial Aid by completing the application online at fafsa.ed.gov. You will need last year’s tax return forms to complete the application- so have them handy before you start! You can also do this at home- but computers are available at TC if you need access to one.
- Request your official high school transcripts to be sent by mail to Texarkana College or go by and pick up a copy in a sealed envelope. Don’t open it- it has to remain sealed for TC to receive it. Also, if you’ve attended any other college or university, TC will need that transcript, too.
- Then, call or come by TC to meet with an advisor. You can set up an appointment by calling 903-244-3012. This will help save time. But, you can just come on in, too, there will be a wait time, but they will meet with you the same day you come in if you don’t mind the wait. Grab your photo ID or Driver’s License- you will need that to check in.
Follow these four steps, and you will be well on your way to a brighter future! What are you waiting for? Most students qualify for Financial Aid, and advisors are here to help you every step of the way. Call 903-823-3012 today and get started!
