Our Mission

The Division of Student Life provides proactive support services, student engagement opportunities, housing support, leadership development, retention initiatives, orientation experiences, graduation coordination, resource navigation, and college access services that empower students to persist, graduate, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Help Shape Student Life

The Student Life Advisory Committee serves as a collaborative advisory and working group dedicated to enhancing the student experience at Texarkana College. The committee provides input, recommendations, and support for programs, services, initiatives, and activities that promote student engagement, belonging, success, leadership development, wellness, and campus community.

The committee works in partnership with the Office of Student Life to ensure that student voices help guide decisions, programming, and priorities while fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus environment.

The Student Life Advisory Committee will:

  • Serve as a representative voice for students, faculty, and staff regarding student life initiatives.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on student engagement opportunities, programs, and services.
  • Assist in identifying emerging student needs, interests, and trends.
  • Support the planning, promotion, and evaluation of campus-wide programs and activities.
  • Encourage student participation in leadership opportunities, clubs and organizations, campus traditions, and student life events.

Membership

The committee should include diverse representation from students, student organization representatives, faculty, staff, the Office of Student Life, and Residential Life or Housing representatives when housing opens.

The Student Engagement Council serves as the official student advisory group for the Office of Student Life at Texarkana College. Council members provide student perspectives, assist with the planning and promotion of campus events and initiatives, and help foster a vibrant, inclusive, and engaging campus community. Through collaboration and leadership, the council ensures that student voices play an active role in shaping the student experience at Texarkana College.
