JCM Industries Gives $10,000 for Texarkana College Welding Scholarships

Cynthia Goerke, on behalf of JCM Industries, presented the James C. Morriss Welding Scholarship on Thursday, April 27th at a ceremony at JCM Industries, Inc., 200 Old Boston Rd, Nash, TX 75569. JCM Industries is a locally owned business that manufactures custom pipe fittings for domestic and international municipalities and businesses.

The funding will provide 15 full scholarships for dual credit welding students at the TC@TexAmericas Center site in New Boston, Texas. Texarkana College’s dual credit welding program is a two-semester program taken concurrently with high school classes. Upon graduation, students only need to complete one final semester at Texarkana College to receive their welding certificate.

“We recognize the importance of an educated workforce in our community,” Goerke said. “At JCM, high quality welders are one of our most important assets. We are proud to support these students in pursuit of their careers.”

Katie Andrus, Director of the Texarkana College Foundation, said the Foundation is thankful JCM Industries for starting this scholarship fund.

“This is a great way to reward hardworking students who are choosing to start their job training early in life,” Andrus said. “Dual credit is a critical step for many students on the path to obtaining a higher education credential.”
