Faculty – Diesel Mechanics TexAmericas

Faculty member will teach Diesel Mechanics Technology courses to students at our TexAmericas Texarkana College location.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Diesel Technology preferred. The selected non-degreed candidate must obtain Associates degree within 2 years.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge and skill in various computer usage and software required, including Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.
  • Possess good organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment.
  • Self-disciplined and able to effectively manage others.
  • An innovative, problem-solving thinker.
  • Demonstrated potential for leadership.
  • Able to work with various types of audio-visual equipment and software.
  • Working knowledge of maintaining student records and dealing with sensitive information.

Experience:

  • Three years of non-teaching, directly related, current work experience.
  • Must have supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: More than 3 years of non-teaching current work experience and demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the community college level.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teaching and instruction in all phases of the Diesel Technology program.
  • Maintains regular office hours to assist students; responds to students’ emails and voicemails in a timely fashion.
  • Responds to assignments and students’ concerns in a timely manner; accurate assessment of student performance and timely filing of grades.
  • Maintains professional competencies in the subject area and currency in instructional methodologies through professional associations and professional development.
  • Plans and organizes syllabi, coursework, study guides, and other support material for the classroom setting as well as online learning.
  • Participates in curriculum development, implementation, and review in accordance with college concerns.
  • Participates in official College functions.
  • Serves on college-wide and departmental committees as needed.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Salary:

Commensurate within the Texarkana College pay scale for position.
