Adjunct Speech & Mass Communication
Texarkana College is seeking an adjunct Speech/Communication instructor to instruct students in accordance with college policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- In accordance with institutional accreditation requirements, Master’s degree (Doctorate degree preferred) in Speech or Mass Communication or a Master’s degree in related disciplines with 18 graduate hours
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrates effective teaching techniques adaptable to a variety of learning styles.
- Demonstrates subject matter related to relevant topics and issues in the teaching discipline.
- Displays effective planning, organizing, communication, interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
- Effectively assists student learning.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.
- Demonstrates ability to work with diverse student populations, families, and children.
- Maintains confidentiality of student information.
- Demonstrates proficiency using computer applications, classroom or other current learning technologies for effective teaching at the community college level.
- Teaches active cooperative and learning strategies.
- Collects, records, and analyzes data for decision-making.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
- Demonstrates ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment.
- Uses departmental Master Moodle shell, syllabi, and curriculum.
Experience:
- Must be knowledgeable, capable of using current technology in the classroom, and able to teach effectively at a community college level.
- Preferred experience in teaching community college level Speech / Communications.
- Successful teaching experience.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Instructs students in the Speech Communication discipline. Provides learning activities that stimulates student involvement and encourages critical thinking.
- Demonstrates creativity and innovation in the field, and service in the profession and/or the community.
- Plans and organizes lesson plans, research and reference materials, syllabi, and other learning aids.
- Meets deadlines and adheres to policies and procedures for paperwork, records, and documentation.
- Teaches courses including compressed and accelerated learning formats.
- Maintains an established schedule, including evening, weekend, and/or summer assignments.
Salary:
Commensurate within the Texarkana College pay scale for position.
