Arconic Foundation Grants $20,000 to TC Foundation
July 10, 2017- STEM students at Texarkana College will have access to a new, state-of-the-art digital microscope and two new anatomy models thanks to a partnership with the Arconic Foundation. Today, the Arconic Foundation presented the Texarkana College Foundation with $20,000 to purchase two Sosmo anatomy models, which will allow Texarkana College to offer more sections of its high demand Anatomy and Physiology courses. The funds will also be used to purchase a Fisher Scientific Compound Digital Microscope. The check presentation took place at 8:30am in the Patman Room of the Truman Arnold Center on the Texarkana College campus.
“The donation of cutting-edge technology will make a big impact on our students,” said Catherine Howard, Dean of STEM at Texarkana College. “We are so thankful for industry partners like Arconic that help us upgrade our programs so that our graduates are trained and ready when they enter the workforce. ”
Katie Andrus, Executive Director of the TC Foundation, said this is the second year in a row that Arconic has made a grant to TC to upgrade the college’s technical training equipment.
“Strong community partnerships are so important to maintaining TC’s high standards for workforce and career training,” Andrus said.
The primary goal of Arconic Foundation is to advance science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and training worldwide, with a special emphasis on engaging and creating access for underrepresented and underserved groups. Arconic Foundation is an independently endowed foundation with assets of approximately $320 million and is the charitable arm of Arconic Inc.
