Alumni of the Month: Chase Brewster

Chase Brewster’s journey at Texarkana College is one for the books. His story is one of perseverance, passion, and a strong connection to the community.

Growing up in Texarkana, Chase developed a love for baseball. When he graduated from Texas High School in 2007, he had dreams of pursuing a career in coaching, but he knew that he needed to attend college to achieve those dreams. Chase recognized that community college was the best option financially, and he chose Texarkana College for its excellent baseball program.

“Coach Massengale did a great job when he took over as head coach in the spring of 2007 and got kids excited about attending TC. My friends Kameron Forte, Jared Washington, David Allday, and Justin Coats were all fired up to be a bulldog and we were the first group Coach Bolt had at TC.”

At Texarkana College, Chase found a supportive and close-knit community that helped him grow both personally and professionally. “Texarkana College provided me with a great foundation for my life after college, both in coaching and in business. As a 34-year-old adult, I can honestly say attending TC was one of the best decisions I ever made.”

Under Coach Bolt’s leadership, the Texarkana College baseball program reached new heights, finishing in the top 25 nationally and winning two conference championships during Chase’s tenure on the team. But the program was about more than just baseball; it provided a space for students to develop leadership skills, cultivate relationships, and work towards their long-term goals.

After completing his studies at Texarkana College, Brewster transferred to Texas A&M University – Texarkana, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He then found success outside of academia, becoming Head Coach of Sticks Baseball and co-owning a new business called Brewster Inc. in Texarkana. He is also the host of his own podcast, “The Chase Brewster Show”. Through it all, he remained connected to Texarkana College and the community that had given him so much support.

“I’m proud of the connections I have been able to make while attending Texarkana College and living in Texarkana,” Chase said. “TC gave me a platform to build my future and gave me resources to help navigate through college all while making great memories with friends that will last forever.”

Chase has been surrounded by an amazing support system throughout his life. His brother, Dylan, and his father, Dave, have always encouraged him. Chase is married to his beautiful wife, Alisha Brewster, of Hooks, Texas and together they have two dogs, Cooper and Drake. He has also had wonderful mentors along the way.

“I have been lucky to have mentors with connections to TC like Kyle Davis, Coach Van Horn, and Barry Norton. I am proud to be an alum alongside them and people like Ross Perot who mean so much to the college and the community. Being a part of the TC family is an awesome feeling.”

Chase’s experiences are a testament to the transformative power of Texarkana College. It’s a place where students can thrive academically and socially, pursue their passions and dreams, and build connections that will last a lifetime. From the outstanding faculty to the supportive community, Texarkana College offers an education that broadens horizons and prepares students for the future.

Chase’s advice to students is simple: “Take college seriously. It’s easy to think it doesn’t matter, but it does. College is a valuable experience that teaches you valuable life lessons, and it opens up doors for your future.”

Congratulations to Chase Brewster for being named Texarkana College’s June 2023 Alumni of the Month!
