Texarkana College Sage Program Offers Fall Classes for Citizens Age 46 and Up
Texarkana College’s Sage Program will begin offering fall classes in September. These classes allow citizens in the “third stage” of life to engage in thoughtful discussion and participate in stimulating activities that enrich their day-to-day living.
Dr. Beverly Rowe, professor of history at Texarkana College and notable author on Texarkana history, serves as a host for the Sage program. Along with a group of community leaders, Rowe designed the program as a catalyst for mature adults who are age 46 and up to remain active in the community and network with others of similar interests.
“We offer stimulating classes that are just for fun,” Rowe said. “This fall, we have an extensive line up of programs including classes on topics that spark curiosity as well as travel and dining outings that foster fellowship and new friendships.”
Class offered this fall include:
- Genealogy for Beginners
- Archeology of Ancient Cultures
- World War II in Texarkana
- World War II in Europe
- Biblical Geography of the Old Testament
- Community Safety for Seniors
- LitLovers: The Great American Read, Jane Roberts Wood and Stories to Celebrate the Season
- Uke Can Do it!
- Uke Can Do More!
- What a Christian Needs to Know: Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists
- Who Are You!
Sage also offers the opportunity to travel around the globe with a group of experienced travelers. The next two trips include:
- Spain and Portugal, March 9-20, 2019
- Scandinavian countries and Russia, May 2020
There is no membership fee to join the Sage program, but classes are $15 each.
