TC gears up to celebrate 90th birthday

Texarkana College is preparing for its 90th birthday celebration with several activities in September.
The activities include an opportunity for division members to dress through the decades on Sept. 18.
The Liberal & Performing Arts will wear 1920s attire; STEM Division, 1930s; Social Science Division, 1940s; Health Sciences Division, 1950s; Administration Building, 1960s; Workforce & Community ED, 1970s; Pinkerton/Facilities/TCPD/Bookstore, 1980s; and KTXK/Information Technology/Library TRIO/Student Support Services/Testing Center, 1990s.
The winner of the dress contest will be announced at the college’s fall festival, which is Sept. 20, and is part of the birthday celebration.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 20, there will be a joint proclamation from the mayors, as well as words from TC President James Henry Russell and student speakers.
The festival will begin at 11 a.m.
TC clubs and organizations will be present to share information. Local vendors will also be available.
Students must show their TC identification card to receive a free lunch.
