Student newspaper wins state awards
Texarkana College’s student newspaper, The TC News, recently won several awards from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association.
The organization’s spring convention was held in San Antonio on April 8-11.
Four-year and two-year institutions in the state compete for recognition in the previously published categories and on-site categories.
TC students placed for material published in the campus newspaper from January 2014 to December 2014. Texarkana College competes as a Division 5 school.
- Katrina Williams, who graduated spring 2014 with a degree in journalism, won first place for a News Feature Story.
- Talmage Lear, a former journalism student at TC, won second place for a Headline.
- The TC News Staff won first place for a Special Section/Edition.
- Jantzen Bruce, a current journalism student at TC, won Honorable Mention for a Critical Review.
